Second week in Florence, Italy
Ciao from Florence! We are in our 2nd week which is already flying by. Some of the students spent Sunday relaxing in the hot springs in the Tuscan hills after a busy week. Design students have been busy studying Italian design. Yesterday we spent a few hours at the Marilyn Monroe exhibition in the Salvatore Ferragamo museum looking at her original dresses, photos and of course amazing Ferragamo shoes. We saw her invitation to JFK’s birthday as well the connection between her timeless beauty and other famous works of art on display.
Today students were lucky enough to get a lecture by the 2 architects who designed the exhibit and much of the behind-the-scenes info. Later in the afternoon students went to the Emporio2 workshop to watch how famous bags are made by hand for labels such as Prada, Chanel, Gucci, and many more. Thursday the Commedia students will be doing a public performance to see all their hard work and Friday the Design students will be presenting their team project.
