YOGA FOR PEACE IN INDIA
Go Inspired is proud to announce it’s partnership with yoga instructor Sowmya Ayyar who will be providing Go Inspired with an amazing Yoga for Peace program. We are thrilled to have this course taking place in India in a village where our participants will have a chance to get to know the culture and its people. The course will be 10 days in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. The course will be 3 hours a day for a total of 30 hours on Sept 2-Sept. 11, 2013. This course is designed around the theories and concepts such as child rights, gender & peace, environmental security, religious diversity, diplomacy, and so forth.
The course includes:
- Daily readings from academic and non-academic sources
- Lectures, discussions, and classroom activities such as readings, journal writings, and short small
group and individual presentations. - Practice of yoga methods, including sound, breathing, exercise, and meditation/ reflection
- Papers and presentations
Types of Yoga
The course runs through a wide variety of forms of yoga. Each class includes ethical discussion (yamas and niyamas), sound (mantra), breathing (pranayama), hand gestures (mudra), poses (asana), and meditation (dhyana).
Each class is centered around a theme of life (Compassion, Strength, Balance), an area of peace work (eg., Environment, Gender, War, Children), a moral consideration moral consideration from yoga (eg., Yamas, Niyamas), and a type of yoga (Gentle Flow, Power, Restorative, Yin, Kundalini).
Accommodation
Participants will be staying at an eco-friendly resort with 3 meals a day provided. Delicious traditional Rajasthani dishes are prepared by a Bishnoi family. The evening is livened up by camp fire with music and dance. Accommodation will be double occupancy in a comfortable hut with air conditioning and attached bathroom providing hot and cold running water.Each hut has its own individual character and furnishings.
The location is situated in the midst of Bishnoi villages, about 22 kilometers from Jodhpur city on the route of Jodhpur to Udaipur. The Guda lake, where the migratory birds comes every year, is about 2 k.m. from the Resort.
